So, finally I have access to the internet!! My Svågeri (Brother-in-law), who also wanted to be mentioned in this entry =) hooked me up on their net and I have been able to check important sites as mku.fi, mickelsson.net and myspace.com…
Oh yeah, and my sister was interviewed for Austrian television today! How about that!
(She also wanted to see her name here…)
(That last thing was dictated by my Svågeri. Did I mention him already??)
Anyway,
I am doing really good. Leon has stayed with us in Ingå the last two weeks and we’ve had a really good time! He has been real manly and worked on mum and dad’s new home while I’ve been working in the store. Yesterday I came home from Kokkola where we attended the wedding of Leon’s second cousin.
Now it’s only three hard days of work left and then I am off to Turku and the studies that start next week. I am looking forward to living there again! I miss my friends and my “own” apartment.
Now, it’s time for bed.
Once we get our internet working again the updates will be a bit more regular…
So much has happened since my last update!
First I spent som lovely days at my boyfriend’s in Kokkola. We went to the Christians music and art festival Humle and listened to some really nice bands and singers. We also went snorkeling and I overcame my fear of hights by jumping from about 5 meters into the water. (I know, I’m supposed to be some kind of tough girl, but jumping from hights really scares me!)
After that I took the train to Tampere where my good friend Charlotta waited for me. From there we flew to Riga, Latvia, to take part in a working camp CinA (Christians in Action) that the Methodist Church organises in different places every year. Already before the trip I could sense that it’s going to be a wonderful journey with laughs, exitement, hard work and a big portion of our heavenly Father. And so it was. We had such a great time! I’ll try and put up some pictures from the camp later.
And the heat has finally come! This is what summer is supposed to be like! I mean, this heat and some thunderstorms every now and then…
I am a big fan of country music, although I don’t know very much about it and I certainly have little knowledge about what singers are out there. But when I went to the states last summer ( ) I listened to the country channel on the air plane and heard a really good song called Jesus take the wheel. I memorized the name of the singer so that I could by the CD later.
And so, the first mall we step into, I see a big poster with her name on it: Carrie Underwood. Wow! I bought the record right away, and I haven’t had to regret that. I later found out that she was the winner of American Idol, (year 2005 maybe?). I love the way she sings, the music and the lyrics.
Here is a taste of both lyrics and music.
Lessons Learned:
There’s some things that I regret,
Some words I wish had gone unsaid,
Some starts,
That had some better endings,
Been some bad times I’ve been through,
Damage I cannot undo.
Some things,
I wish I could do all all over again,
But it don’t really matter,
Life gets that much harder,
It makes you that much stronger,
Oh, some pages turned,
Some bridges burned,
But there were,
Lessons learned.
And every tear that had to fall from my eyes,
Everyday I wonder how I’d get through the night,
Every change, life has thrown me,
I’m thankful, for every break in my heart,
I’m grateful, for every scar,
Some pages turned,
Some bridges burned,
But there were lessons learned.
There’s mistakes that I have made,
Some chances I just threw away,
Some roads,
I never should have taken,
Been some signs I didn’t see,
Hearts that I hurt needlessly,
Some wounds,
That I wish I could have one more chance to mend,
But it don’t make no differance,
The past can’t be rewritten,
You get the life you’re given,
Oh, some pages turned,
Some bridges burned,
But there were,
Lessons learned.
And every tear that had to fall from my eyes,
Everyday I wonder how I’d get threw the night,
Every change, life has thrown me,
I’m thankful, for every break in my heart,
I’m grateful, for every scar,
Some pages turned,
Some bridges burned,
But there were lessons learned.
And all the things that break you,
Are the things that make you strong,
You can’t change the past.
Cause it’s gone,
And you just gotta move on,
Because it’s all
Lessons leanred.
I have to add that Carrie is a christian. So, besides just moving on and forgetting about the past, to me the song also talks about grace and forgiveness, and about life. Because life really isn’t easy and you will make many mistakes. But there is someone who willingly cleans up the mess after you, and that, I am grateful for.
When I screw up, I can whisper, or cry out: “Jesus, you take the wheel.” And He will be there.
As is sung in Psalm 46:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.”
